HJC’s replacement to the CL-16, the CL-17 isn’t just one digit more name wise, it is a nice evolution of an already very good budget helmet. Not groundbreaking in construction, the design is nevertheless well throughout and well put together. The lighter and stronger polycarbonate composite shell is a nice step forward, as well is the refined ACS ventilation system which makes a big difference in improving ride comfort. Shield changes are done by way of HJC’s very easy to use Rapidfire™ system and though not equipped with Pinlock®, the shield is prepared for it. All things considered, the CL-17 is popular for good reason. It has great features, a solid construction and nice looks at a hard to say no price.
